solid state organ interstage transformer to.... di box?

Post by thetragichero »

so I'm one of those guys who picks up old organs off the side of the road/craigslist/etc and strips em for parts (besides the usual tube chassis, speakers and wire and obsolete transistors....)
i have a pair of interstage transformers that were each driving a pair of output transistors. my first hope was to use as phase inverters like the fender musicmaster bass amps, but after seeing my lightbulb limiter light up as first step to hook up to ac to measure impedance, it appears that they are not made for high voltage. so i measured the voltage going in (25vac) and on the secondaries (7.7vac each) and ended up with a 10.5:1 turns ratio.... just about perfect for a di box, no?
i don't particularly need one, although i could either give them to the church for acoustic guitar use or make a sort of swiss army knife box for my pedalboard to replace my ab box on my pedalboard (kind of a convoluted setup for my fender bass vi + drum machine solo project involving a looper and two amps)
anyway i welcome thoughts. sometimes i can go off on crazy tangents and need to be brought back down to earth!

25/7.7 would be a 3.246 voltage ratio from the primary to each side of the secondary, and that’s also the turns ratio. The impedance ratio is 10.54 to each side, or 2.635 for the whole secondary.

you are correct sir, this is what happens when i am usually only interested in measuring output transformers
