I have a Kubicki X-Factor bass. Pre Fender with a receipt for service by Phil Kubicki.
A guy I know wants to trade a Sound City 120 Half Stack that has been gone through and all of the tubes have been replaced. The power tubes are all NOS Mullards. I have not looked at the preamp tubes.
He will also throw in a Music City 100 watt head that has also been recently serviced.
From what I understand the Music City is a Laney Supergroup 100 rebadged for the Music City store. It has Partridge transformers.
Is anyone familiar with Music City amp.
Would this be a reasonable trade?
I am not a bass player.
Thanks
Possible trade.

Re: Possible trade.
I see that there are a few recent eBay sales of this bass (or a variant?) in range of about $2,200. Don't know if this info helps or not. People are listing them for $3K-$4K but they aren't selling.
This sounds like one of those bargains that will be made or not based on factors that may not be directly related to monetary valuation.
I hope someone will respond more directly to your question. Good luck with this.

Re: Possible trade.
I'd jump on it, if the tubes are actually NOS Mullard and not those russkie reissues.

I say pass on it.

Re: Possible trade.
The tubes in the Sound City are NOS, not reissues.
The cabinet has replaced speakers and new grill cloth.
The original owner used it for bass.
The Kubicki was a pawn shop find so I have next to nothing in it but that has nothing to do with it's trade value.
A 120 head sold for 680 shipped on ebay.
A 120 half stack is listed for 2100 but has not sold. It probably won't sell.
I can't find a value on the Music City amp under the Music City or the Laney name

Re: Possible trade.
Sell the Kubicki. Buy what you really want. I think you'll get $2K if it's what I think it is. You can get a lot of amp stuff for that.
Re: Possible trade.
I took a look around my home office and counted 26 working amps.
I looked around the garage and found a dozen more.
I really don't have room for any more amps so I think I'll pass on the trade.
Thanks for your suggestions.
