Any of you guys tried a Keto diet? They work well, but brownies are nice too.

I'm on a "modified" low card diet and have lost over 31 pounds since July 1.
It's called "Trim Healthy Mama".....but since I'm an old geezer, my grand kids call it "Trim Healthy Pops" :D

It's modified in that you don't actually go into ketosis, but just limit your carb intake....and the real trick is balancing what and when you eat.

It's all balanced on eating protein with most every meal or snack.....either protein with carbs (limited), or protein with fats (again, limited), BUT (and here's the real trick) NEVER eat carbs and fats together! That's what screws up your blood sugar.

There's a ton of info, recipes and such online if you do a search.

I was living on cakes, breads and processed sugar. After a debilitating attack of sciatica in may/june (from a ruptured disc caused by a huge belly hanging out there putting pressure on my back) I decided it was time to make a change....I NEVER want to go thru THAT again!

I feel better now than I have in 15 years, and really don't miss all the crap, although I'm not a teetotaler....I have the occasional pizza, cookie or piece of cake (or brownie)

PS....I even have a Corona Light (or 2) whenever I want....

I have lost about 30 lbs since last Christmas. All I did was change my calorie in take. I used a smartphone app called myfitnesspal. It a calorie counting app. It makes you aware of your intake. It was a lifestyle change for me. I eat the same things just less. It has worked well for me and I lost the bulk of the weight in the first 3 months and I have maintained that weight loss without big fluctuations. I highly recommend this app to anyone looking to lose some weight and keep it off long term. A change will do you good.

Oh and the app is free btw

My youngest daughter does the same thing (not sure which app she uses) and it worked for her, too.
She's 19 and wasn't really overweight, but wanted to get a handle on it before it got out of hand....smart girl.

Yup. That's the app I use. My wife made brownies last night and french toast for breakfast. I'm gonna have to start doing the "balls of steel!" thing.

Yeah, join the club.
Since I stopped working I have gained about 40 lbs myself.

I was on pain killers for years and finally got off them a couple years ago.
One of the toughest things I have ever done.
About a month of pure hell.

Opiates suppress the appetite but after I was off the meds I soon found myself being hungry all the time.

I think smaller portions are the key, but it's a struggle.

Don't let that smoke out!

Carbohydrates are poison to me (diabetic), but I crave them constantly. Still, best to stay away from them as much as possible (even if one is not diabetic).

I'm coming up on 35 lbs lost since I cut way back on carbs. Had some genetic testing earlier this year that showed gluten intolerance and celiacs genes so I quit eating anything With gluten in it. Had some parasites too from working with livestock and got rid of those. Packed on some weight with antidepressants too but quit those a while ago but the weight stayed.

That's the only thing I really did any different and lost my gut and the weight within about 4 months. I think besides a little fat there was a lot of inflammation that helped my gut go down, went from 222 down to 187.

I have noticed that the weigh loss will plateau or creep back up if I snack after 7pm, and if I have too many carbs I feel like crap as far as pain, energy, and anxiety/depression.
