Can (ex) manufacturers post ads for stuff they're selling?

Post by Mickey_C »

Hey, I closed a small manufacturing business and am selling off parts/tools/etc. I have been trying to find out if I can post a ad in the advertising section, since I know there are lots of home/hobbyist builders here. The advertising section clearly says no dealer ads.

Could somebody who is capable of an authoritative answer please let me know? You can yank this thread and just answer me in messaging or email if this out of place - I didn't see a good section to ask in, and tried messaging a couple of the admins.

Thanks!

Non-authoritative answer: Hells yes! Would like to see what you're selling.

I can smell Mallory PVCs... I know how to tell if they're here. I'm going to ask Miles if he's having an allergic reaction.

Mmmmmmmm Orange!

Hey Mickey, please post as much as you can! :D

"Liquidating first-rate merchandise and equipment acquired from defunct manufacturer."

If the manufacturer doesn't exist anymore, your former relationship to it is largely irrelevant.

Thanks! I am putting the list together and will post it in the ads.

Small taste: Tools (triplett 3444 gmho tube tester, tektronix 4476 scope with test attachments, weller solder and rework stations, craftsman roll away, function & signal generator, vtvm, transformer impedance testing tool, couple of meters including a power/frequency/true RMS meter, some custom made pieces like a 32 ohm resistive load for tranny testing), Parts (caps by sozo, mullard, panasonic, orange & more, resistors (many wire wounds, flame proofs, carbon film, metal film, carbon comp), pots (including standard & push pull CTS, PEC pots of many values, some vintage clarostat dual gangers - only about 20 of those), Transformers by mercury magnetics, large number of 20 watt marshall clone chassis units, one never touched metro 100W chassis with a custom made mercury magnetics power trans for it with windings for power scaling bias control, tubes (including some vintage rca, telefunken, & mullard, new VA KT66)...

It's really a ton of stuff, and it's all going to go. The hardest part is pulling a complete inventory of it and getting the pics, but the wife and I working on it. She smells the cash and is highly motivated :D

To those wishing me well and offering their condolences for soultone's passing - thank you, but believe me this is ALL ABOUT wellness, I have nothing but good feelings about shutting down this part of my life, it was like being released from prison. I loved making amps as a hobby, and I hated doing it for money.

Hopefully one day I'll actually be able to sit down and finish my wreck clone!
