Dood. I just found a new funnest amp to hack on. These things are brilliant, 10 triodes a PI and a pair of output tubes with sillycon rectifier. All the current cap to go with it. Enough holes to throw every control you'd consider.. a mile of unused back panel for things you might not have thought of..
What's not to like?

I assume I am not the first person to figure this out. If you want to rework fairly inexpensive vintage amps i think the piggyback heads are about the best place to look.
Bassman.. ehhh not so much.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.
Bandmasters, yes sorta open season on modding as they are perhaps the least "collectible" of Fenders. First one I saw modded was at George's Music in Troy NY @ 1975. George doubled up the output tubes (holes were there already - same chassis as Showman), stuck in a Twin OT and zoom, off ya go. I carried this idea to an extreme when I built an amp @ 20 years ago that became known as the Blastmaster for a local guitar whiz. In recent times it's sorta sacrilege to drill up blackface Fenders but . . . look out silver faces! Just hold still, this won't hurt a bit.
The owner of the amp worked at guitar center san francisco back in the late 80's, early 90's. They sent two of these heads to TR for conversion. The heads came back with the Fender emblem removed and replaced by a Two-Rock name plate. I'd be surprised if TR would still do this. I've had the chance to play through it a few times, and it's pretty impressive.
