My name is Rafael, but you can call me Raf. I know little to nothing on the technical side of amp repair. I know what I like in terms of tubes, speakers, and amps themselves, but ask me about caps and transformers and I will drool like a puppy. I'm more of an amateur player who has a band and just thrives on sweet tone. Here's my current rig:

The Guitars:
G&L ASAT Classic
Epiphone Sheraton that's been and will continue to be modded
Alvarez AJ60SC

Board:
Korg Pitchblack
Xotic SP Compressor
Modded Dunlop Cry Baby (for true bypass and yellow Fasel)
SUF Civil War
Foxrox Octron 2
Walrus Audio Voyager
Diamond Memory Lane Jr.
Catalinbread Montavillian
EQD Dispatch Master
(currently waiting on a smallsound/bigsound TAFM)

Amps:
SF Fender Bassman Modded to a BF Bassman on the normal channel and JTM 145 clone on the bass channel, with a master volume. Bought second hand, with mods done at Savage Audio.

Vox Berkeley Super Reverb Twin V8... great little amp, but I'm actually looking to sell it for...

Want list:
Ampeg V2 (or V4, though it may be too loud for my needs).

It's funny- I am a Queens of the Stone Age fan, but I wouldn't say Josh Homme is the guy I model my tone after. That being said, with what I have and want ampwise, I'm approaching that direction!

What do I like in my amps? Well, the Bassman has nice natural grit and power to it. I don't get to use it now, since I run the Voyager (which I LOVE) into it, as I need some really clean tones too, which aren't the easiest to attain on the Bassman. Enter my Ampeg lust. I want another head that covers that same ground on volume, but can stay clean when I need it to (and sound awesome blended with the Bassman).

BTW, these are both running into a cab I picked up on a forum that came preloaded with Webers- Blue Dog and Silver Bell.

TL;DR, I'm sure, haha.

I play in a band called Silhouette Lies. Modern sounding, I suppose, with a wide array of influences. Think Thrice meets Incubus meets AFI meets Deftones?

Anyway, Just thought I'd say hey!

Hey! Welcome! Cross your eyes and try to fit in. Drag a leg and moan. It helps.

Hey Rafael,

I have an early 60's VOX 2x 12 speaker cab.

I bought it around 1976 complete with the chrome trolley for $35.

I think it may be the same cab as the Berkeley used.

I resurrected it a couple years ago by installing two EVM 12L speakers.
It came with a horn that mounted in the middle but I removed that.

I use it now with my Dumble clone and it sounds great.

Used to play through an ampeg V4 head back in the 80's, the power switch burned up and the only switch we could find in the junk box parts that could handle the current was a coin-op switch from a dryer.

We would play for a while and the amp would turn off, then we would bum the audience for quarters and keep rocking...

Hey AmpMike!

That's something I want to do in a few years. I was just talking to a friend the other day about dream amps, haha. I will make it happen someday! And Bangor, eh? Not too far! I know it's north of you, but do you happen to know Jay and Shahn at Ant Farm Music & Amplification? They're my go-to guys and phenomenal with repairs and knowledge!

@structo- I'll have to look into your Dumble clone, cause that perked my ears up. That said, the cab looks about right, especially if it came with the trolley. I bet that pair sounds great together!

@ER- That may be the coolest thing I have EVER heard! hahahahaha. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of that, would you??

I really like the set up you got there on the bassman. Are you using the Fender speaker cab? What sort of speakers have you driven with it. I see now that you are running Weber silver and blue balls. Alnico? Try the Californians with the mid style coil cap and CERAMIC magnets. You should be able to clean that bassman up just fine. You don't need two amps you need two speaker cabinets.
