I loaned my boat (Boston Whaler, center-console, too much engine) to my brother. He lost it on the New Jersey Turnpike.

If you put the Federal Government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in five years time there would be a shortage of sand.

No, they did not reduce the toll.skyboltone wrote:Did they reduce the toll?NickC wrote:I loaned my boat (Boston Whaler, center-console, too much engine) to my brother. He lost it on the New Jersey Turnpike.
They (meaning the State) impounded the boat, and put out an arrest warrant on my brother for leaving the boat on the side of the road. A wheel bearing on the trailer burned out, and it lost a wheel. Bro nearly lost control of the truck that was towing the boat.
It all happened when brother was moving from New Jersey to South Carolina. Had a load of family furnishings in the truck and the family driving along in a car behind him. He left the boat on the side of the road and continued to SC, figuring to be back 2 days later to move the other half of the household and deal with the boat. By then the boat had been seized by NJ. Apparently the State Troopers and/or Thruway Authorities couldn't read the note he left on it ...... or didn't want to know ....... or ........ who knows what.
But imagine calling into the state bureaucracy of the thruway authority to find out what happened to the boat, and being told there is a warrant out of you ....... and being asked "Where, exactly, are you right now?" He hung up, loaded the truck, and got the heck out of NJ immediately.
