new eminence design?

Post by 9pins »

I noticed a new eminence speaker, they have a knob on the back that seems to effect SPL efficiency.
You can range the SPL from around 90dB to 100dB.

the reignmaker and maverick 12", that might be very interesting.

Any body try one yet?

I. Have an 8 ohm Reignmaker breaking in now. Its hooked up in my home theatre rig. A week of Skyrim should do it.

First impression is that turning the knob in addition to decreasing volume also shifts the EQ peak lower and rolls off highs.

What they are doing isn't much different than adjusting the voltage through the field coil of a field coil speaker. Hifi people have been going nuts over field coil stuff for a while now because you can tweak that voltage to change the speakers sensitivity and EQ. The way Eminence does it is much safer however :).

Yep. Fluxtone sells what appear to be field coil guitar speakers.

One more thing to plug in, and they're like $750.

I tend to like closed back cabinets, so once this gets set I doubt it will get tweaked again.
