6aq5 is a 7-pin 6v6 equivalent, with the small bottle it ends up sounding like a cross between 6v6 and el84, nice compression and chime.

Sounds like you have a great transformer for a tweed deluxe or princeton build. I just finished a 5E3 and I was looking for a transformer with those specs.

+1 on the 6AQ5, I built a Harvard with all 7-pin tubes several years ago, just loaned it to the neighbor's 16-year old. Great tone with a Weber Jensen style speaker.

The 6CG7 / 6FQ7 is wanted by the Conrad Johnson crowd, might sell well on eBay.

I'd immediately start work on a 4 6AQ5 amp.

If those were all a mix of 12AX7s, 5751, 6027, 12AY7, 6201, 6DJ8 7199 EF86 - you'd have had a heart attack. So, in that way you are lucky.

I built a distortion pedal from Merlin's Sparkgap design using the small 7pin tubes. pretty cool pedal.

Hi,

The 6AQ5 is a miniature 7-pin (B7G) output beam tetrode. Ratings are virtually identical to the 6V6 at 250V and was commonly used as an output audio amplifier in tube TVs and radios.

Garnet Amps used the tube in for their Mohawk Custom (parallel tubes SE).

Also known under Mullard-Philips tube designation EL90. There are also versions of this tube with extended ratings for industrial application which are designated as 6AQ5A and 6005W.

Best Regards,

Steve
