Plus different agencies use different units to measure.
The rem or micro seivert (sp) among others.
Probably to confuse the public.

1 Seivert = 100 Rem

Yes, it is distracting to have to convert unfamiliar units. I've listened to a few panel discussions on the issue this last week.

The Stuff that is being spread to the public via "news" and "information" seems heavily skewed to stir yet more fear.
