Recording audio for the internet???
How do you guys record clips to the internet? I have some audio software and nice mics, I just don't know how to convert the files to run on the internet?

you need to upload them somewhere. You could try Youtube, soundclick, etc. Google around. Probably a number of free sites to host sound files.

Re: Recording audio for the internet???
passfan,
You can google free software that will convert your .wav, .wma or whatever you have to mp3. Your music software should already come with a converter. I use Sonar 8.5 and I can export my music files to .wma, .wav and mp3. mp3 will of course compress your music but that should suffice if it's just for YouTube. If you are going to keep the files as .wav or .wma then you will have to find a host like MegaUpload to post your files due to their size. Hope this helps.

If you have the .wav files, Windows Media Player will let you convert them to MP3.

The boss micro br converts and dumps with a ubs cable, spits out a file for attachment .
Pretty simple, I think any digital recorder will, its posting to the garage that
posses issues, so you resort to a link, love to see something simpler.

oops sry, I guess you meant convert to different format (mp3, etc.)? As above, there should be free (or built in) software to do this if that's what you mean. I have something that I used to change wav to mp3 but I haven't used it in a while and forget what it was.
Re: Recording audio for the internet???
Thanks for the replies. Right now I have an M-Audio Fast Track and am recording into Pro Tools M Powered Essential software. I haven't gone all the way into it yet but I noticed some guys popping up Quick time files which seemed so simple. I'd like to share some of my amps and mods sound with the gang here and elsewhere so I guess it's time to get to it.

Mp3's lossy compression algo aside.. make sure you encode at higher rates than default. Look for encoding rates when you convert, and use something higher than 128k for the least hack and chop in the headroom.
Mp3 encoding takes away the harmonics that we all freak over. That's what it does, and how it works. It makes heaven sound like shit! Rawk!
