"maximun 2nd degree harmonics"

Post by iknowjohnny »

Thats what was said in a pdf file from AX84 concerning using a 220k/1.9k plate/cathode in the first stage of a hi gain amp. So i tried it and it did indeed sound richer and better. However, i tried it in the first AND second stages of a high gain pre and found it better in the 2nd stage. Is that odd or why is that the case? I would assume the second stage would be better because theres more distortion by then, but they state the first stage so i'm just curious.

Second, are you supposed to leave it unbypassed ?
