Lower voltage power transformer

Post by austinb »

I used a power transformer in a orange tiny terror design that has a non center tap 130vac secondary. I have a B+ of 166vdc using this trany. What are the effects of using a lower plate voltage if I bias the output tube to the right current?

I'm not sure what the B+ is supposed to be but I would expect it to be something like 350V or higher in the 15W mode. At 160V you max power will probably only be about 4 watts with the stock output transformer. Maybe you could use a voltage doubler circuit to get you near the original B+.
