I named the amp the Dirty Dog. It's an SE amp with VVR. It's also my 1st woodworking project. And yes I jumped right into doing dovetails. The cab is Mahogany and Maple with rosewood veneer faceplate. Turned out OK, IMHO...
Here are some pics. Hope to get some clips recorded soon.
I wish my last amp (my 10th) looked anywhere near that good. I usually throw mine in a pine box w/ some expanded steel in front to protect everything. I haven't even gotten to what would be considered my first 'woodworking' project.
That is one nice looking amp. What's the empty octal socket for? 7591 maybe? (try it. you'll like it. All your friends are doing it. You'll be cool if you do.)
The empty slot is for another 6v6. The amp will take one 6l6 (as pictured) or one el34 or one kt66, but it can take two 6v6s or one.
The amp sounds great (ok, maybe I'm biased ). Cleans up nice and gets dirty when needed.
I'm lucky to have access to some quality hardwood. There's a store by me (Chicago burbs) that has a nice supply of wood. So if you're in the Chicago area, the place is owlhardwood.com. Don't buy all their stock. Save some for me.
I just realized... I probably should have posted pix of the guts.

Great Build
Now show me the GUTS
seriously looks great / wood work in sure in inards are going to be just as good
And...what's the easiest way to do fingerjointing?
(Help me!)
I'll post mine when it's done.
It's uh...not fingerjointed, at all.
I have a nice table saw, molding head, a lot of carpentry tools, and no knowledge of how to make a proper fingerjoint.
Here you go, the guts...Sorry did not have my brother-in-law's camera gear to take the photo. So image is not as good as the other pix. The amp is based on Dave Hunters two-stroke amp with some minor tweaks and the addition of the VVR. I probably should trim those unused xformer leads...
I have never done finger joints (box joints). I've only done half-blind dovetail joints. I'm new at this. What you need is a good router and a jig. I recommend Porter Cable router (1-3/4 hp should be fine) and a porter cable jig. The 4212 Porter Cable jig will do box joints. Check out http://www.deltaportercable.com/jigs/dovetail/ They have videos and the manual. Of course the video makes it look easier than it is. If you have the fiunds check out the omnijig.
The hardest part is getting the jig setup with the wood you are using. Basically you setup the jig with scraps of wood as test piece and then once setup then do it with the actual workpiece. Then you can do box joints all day. Your scraps MUST be the same thickness as your work piece. Actually I suggest doing your 1st project with void free plywood.
