Rip-off or the going rate?

Post by ToobNoob »

I hear much talk of the legendary Dumble amps and, by chance, came across this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Dumble-Overdrive-Sp ... dZViewItem

Is this par for the course for Dumbles or is this guy asking waaaaay too much? I know they're much sought after amps, but do they actually sell in that price range these days?

A newbie question, I know, but I was just curious. Not that I would buy it, of course, unless the guy is willing to accept Monopoly money!

That's Gregor Hildens's amp!
He is trying to buy a house or something and is selling.
He is a member here.

Too bad there isn't a place where one could learn how to make one of those.

Unfortunately, communicating through a text based system loses all the subtle nuances of speech, such as sarcasm and rhetorical questions.

Gregor is a member of this board and I wish him well with the sale. Too bad the US dollar is not worth anything. A US seller might get that much from the appropriate foreign LC and HAD fan. I think with the exchange rate as it is, the US dollar amount he is asking is going to be too high for US buyers.

I suspect Gregor has an amp (most likely a Dumble clone) that he thinks sounds even better than this one. I seriously doubt he would be selling his best sounding amp judging by how much he is obviously into great tone. Gregor has some world class gear and is producing some incredible music. Check out what he has for sale on his website. I can only imagine what he is keeping...

I wonder if he has gut shots of that amp not that I care

Even at that price, I suspect someone will buy it.

THere are two gut shots of the amp in that auction showing that the preamp section has been de-gooped.

HAD sure was ahead of his time with all those features he builds into those amps I have to admit.
