23/33 Tranny switch

I have a tranny switch on my D'lite build. I am confused about how the on/on switch works to select the winding. I used a six tab switch with the winding pairs on either side of the switch and the runs to the tubes in middle. Brown & Brown/white on one side and Blue blue/white on the other side with blue and brown runs to the tubes... matched to the correct color side. When I do a continuity test I get continuity from center to the left and right tabs no matter which way the toggle is set. The switch tested logically off of the amp with continuity only on the actuated side. Once wired up continuity was to both sides??

Any help?

If you're switching between different taps on the same side of a transformer, you'll see near continuity because the taps are all connected with different lengths of copper between them. What kind of transformer and switch are you using?

Yes, i id not realize that the windings are actually connected. Its all up and running ok now

Ange, what you are selecting is the two different impedance taps on the primaries.
In your case, one set is 4k ohms and the other pair are 8k ohms.
So that you can run 6L6 with the 4k and 6V6 with the 8k.
Remember that the toggle bat (handle) is opposite of the pair of wires you are selecting.

Hi Tom, yep I realize that.... although I goofed on that at first. I also plugged the speaker in to the effects loop ( not wired yet ) and tried to get the guitar to play. After a minute I realized what I had done and shut it down. Patched the speaker in correctly and it worked fine.... thank goodness I did not kill my tranny. That's it for idiot move... no more.
