Speakon footswitch?

Speakon footswitch?

has anyone tried this? Seems like it could work, as you can get them with up to 8 poles, and they're cheaper than the 5pin xlrs usually.

These will work fine and they are tough as nails, but that's a mighty BIG connector..

You're certainly right about that. Might fall the way of the IEC jack with built-in filter - would work great if it didn't take up so much space.
