Teflon Tubing?

Post by gearhead »

Anyone know where you can get teflon/ptfe tubing sold by the foot? Or at least in rolls less than hundreds of feet, LOL.

It is a portable, placeable insulator. For one, it doubly ensures no bare wires touch. Especially around the tube sockets where components and leads are going everywhere.

I'm also building some socket adapters with different pinouts and need to use non-copper wire for pin strength. It has no insulation to begin with, so twisting from location A on input to location D on output makes it tough for at least two not to touch.

Like gearhead, I use it in point to point builds to put "socks" on various component leads. I just strip a little teflon wire though and use the strippage to slide on the lead. In the olden days it was called spagetti.

They used to call it spaghetti.
Back in the day, it was a woven cloth type tubing that was slipped over leads to insulate them.

That gives me an idea...

You wouldn't happen to be making a pin out adapter for a 9 pin preamp tube, would ya?
