Hi
Disaster has struck, whilst trying to get a neon and LDR into a heat shrink tube, the leg came off the LDR.
There isn’t any writing on the LDR telling me a model number but I did roughly measure it with my small halogen flash light. I managed to get the LDR to as little as 130 ohm and it went up to several Megohms.
I have done a couple of searches and not found anything that operates in that region.
The other option is, would a Fender cockroach operate in this circuit?
As you might imagine my expertise in this region is making sure the oscillator works and replacing the cockroach.
As always, thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Fender roach should work. I've also had luck with the LDRs from Tayda, you can get like 80 of those for the price of a fender replacement.

Thanks for your reply Max, I appreciate you taking time to respond.
I initially thought that the roach would work fine and it might work too, but I’m not so sure now. I refer to the Fendef DR circuit where implementation is quite different.
I will have a look at Tayda as I was going to order parts through them anyway.
The Tayda LDR’s go down to 10K, I don’t know if that would be enough?

This is a good reference, but no info on the LDR.

Re: Spec for LDR in tremolo circuit?
The tayda LDRs go down to around 300 ohms with a bright led, if i remember correctly, probably lower if you go brighter. The 10k spec is at a specific brightness. For fender replacements, I replace the neon with an ultrabright white LED, but should still work with neon.
I don't see why there would be much difference to the LDR in the two circuits, the LDR doesn't care how the neon is being driven.
