simple 6L6 SE amp

Post by Vince »

Hi,
This is so simple, but....
Single ended 6L6 (6pi3s-e) amp, Ua ca 310VDC,
OT 5k/8R, core ca5cm2;
1xECC83/12AX7, 1x6L6, 1x12", I need big headroom
and big bottom.

How? fender, marshall - which one?

regards
V.

SE and or Cathode biased is probably not the way to go for what you want. Big headroom can be achieved easier with fixed bias and Push/Pull.

Higher voltage, 6L6's, Fixed Bias, Lower gain is what I would go with.

What those guys said...

However, here is a P1 Clean variant from the AX84 project that is single-ended:

Just don't expect an amp with enough headroom and volume for gigging. Might be able to stretch with an efficient speaker.

For that classic big clean tone, I'd go with a Fender blackface preamp (AB763), LTP, and fixed bias PP 6L6's.
