Hum from Epiphone Century amp

Post by majsfel »

Hey.

Noob question here.

So I've got this Epiphone century amp (schematic here https://el34world.com/charts/Schematics ... eissue.pdf )
It's got a really loud 50hz hum at zero volume which is a common problem with these amps. I've been told on old threads to take off the wire from p16 and put it on c32 instead (Center tap to first cap ground)
I know how to solder good (from building guitars) but I'm not used to solder on curcuit boards, and I suck at reading schematics. So should I just wire it to the leg of the cap (does + or - matter) or is the cap ground somewhere else?

Just remove that wire from chassis ground and if need be extend it to get to the ground end of that first power supply filter.
