Got to hear one Wednesday night through a marshall 4x12 with greenbacks. WOW. It doesn't really do the express controlled feedback thing so well but it has got some serious punch, very very tight sounding The cleans are clean but not amazing. Dirty channel is seriously sweet though, anything from just a little hair to thick rich crunch. A players amp for sure though. Play one if you get a chance. Anyone know how they're set up inside? I'm not talking schemo or values even but just general topology.
Re: Divided by 13 RSA31
Me too. I am interested in his class A/AB switching.
Re: Divided by 13 RSA31
I'm guessing it's KT88's run at fairly low voltage with a pentode/triode switch.
Re: Divided by 13 RSA31
Its not, its a quad of EL84s. That much is easily discovered on the website, I was looking for a little more detail or a "based off of such and such" though its really not a big deal. Sounded good and got me curious, that's all.
Re: Divided by 13 RSA31
Sorry, I guess I was thinking of the RSA23.

You are correct, sir.JimiB wrote:Sorry, I guess I was thinking of the RSA23.

Channel 1 is AC30-ish (although I don't know whether it has the gain of the normal or the top boost channel - I would guess top boost) with an added midrange control. Channel 2 is a pentode channel similar to the Matchless DC30 with switchable voicings, although it uses a 5879 rather than an EF86s for the pentode.
Interestingly there's no global hi cut control.
This particular one has a full/half power switch rather than the class A/AB mode that some of his have. I guess in this case he's either grounding the grids of two of the power tubes or has two pairs of cathode resistors/caps and lifts one to shut down a pair of tubes.

Re: Divided by 13 RSA31
I would say the second option, since thats how he does half power in the ERT33.This particular one has a full/half power switch rather than the class A/AB mode that some of his have.
