Finally I decide to use TURRETS ON PCB approach.

Finally I decided to use hybrid approach, turrets on PCB. It turns out well good, it's like a 3D surface mount for big components, don't need a service window or remove the board to repair and modify. Everything is on the top.can't wait to put some resistor sand caps on it.

I'm speechless. I see where it saves work redesigning the layout to a turret board, but you still have the thin traces on the same board. I applaud your work ethic to make this mod though.

This is very cool!. I see ribbon connections on your board. Do these connect to your preamp tubes or Pots?
Marshall SC20H amps have similar connections

Congrats!!

Very nice work.

A couple of things to watch out for - not bugs, just things that might turn up.

The height of the turrets off the board lend them to applying torque to the solder joints where the turrets meet the board copper. Be careful not to put too much force on the tops of the turrets.
In the same vein, it's sturdier against turret movement if you used thicker PCB. I would up using 0.090" thick PCB in the one I designed, and would have used 0.125" thick board if I could have gotten it.
I specified 2-ounce copper thickness on the board and used primarily 0.05" wide traces for the same sturdiness reasons.
The row of connectors for ribbon cable is fine, but do watch carefully for problems with insulation displacement connectors (IDC) on the ribbon cable itself. Cheaper versions of IDC connectors may work fine when new, but the connection to the wires in the ribbon cable may become intermittent with cable flexing over time. They may be fine, but it's something to watch for and be ready with a new, tested ribbon cable to swap in.

The ribbon connections are for photo relay control board only, no signal . The pcb has 2oz copper layer. The hairlines are for photo relay control signal.

hello,
I am attempting to build something like this. I already got the PCB and 575-4 eyelets. My question is, how did you punch/solder these turrets into the board? Is there some kind of press that you can use to do that.
Thanks in advance for the help.
