What's everyone's favorite undrilled/bare chassis to use for making upright head amps like marshall/trainwreck/ect
I am wanting to build a portable small to medium size head of my own design. Hundred watt four octal amps. I guess a hundred watt lunchbox type amp
I don't want the caged top type. Just a standard aluminum or steel chassis kinda like the Hammond's, which I am considering.
Mostly looking for a widely available in the United States chassis.
What's everyone's favorite chassis with these things in mind?

Re: Amp chassis recommendation.
I have two questions for you first if I might.
1) Why do you need 100 watts of power?
2) what's the most common type of music you will play through this amp once built?
Also in my opinion if this is your first build your going to find that stuffing 100 watts of RMS power into something the size of a lunch box will be quite a challenge to say the least my friend!!

Re: Amp chassis recommendation.
I like the headroom and punch of a hundred watt amp. Been playing for thirty years. I own a hundred watt dumble clone.
I've repaired numerous amps. Currently building a Hoffman Princeton reverb.
Also have a fifty watt D'lite I am building next. Already wish I would have punched two more octals but I already have the iron.
It doesn't have to be super small. I suppose "lunchbox" could refer to something along the lines of a tiny terror. I don't want that small. I'm thinking more along the lines of a trainwreck size amp.

I've purchased several chassis from this guy - good product and price.
He has 12g aluminum available, which is nice for holding the heavier iron.

The Hammond 1441/1444 chassis are way to thin for a 100W project. Steel is mostly 20GA with a few 18GA. Aluminum are mostly .04" with a few .05".dragonbat13 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 4:03 am I don't want the caged top type. I bought three 1444-20 for small tweed style amps. You can literally twist this 17" x 4" x 3" chassis like a pretzel using only your hands. Ever since I've only used .08" or .09" aluminum.
