Old style trim pots

Post by angelodp »

Looking for a source for the vintage style rotary trim pots. You know the cool ones in old Marshalls.

Do you mean trimmers like those below?

I would not recommend you to use those kind of trimmers, they usually collect powder and dirty and they easily broke.
During my TV repair duty I've often substituted those kind of trimmers with the modern and closed ones, in old CRT TV.

I've rarely (if not never) substituted a modern trimmer.

If you can get away from the need for the coolness factor then in terms of longevity, stability and fine adjustment range then your far better off with this type of trimmer.

If you must have one, try contacting Apex Jr. As I recall, he'll answer the telephone if you call and that is probably the best way. He has all sorts of interesting stuff from an age gone by.

I'd go for a multiturn, but something more resistant than 200 turns.

Ok sure, juts trying to emulate the traditional build quality. Some of those trim pots on old Marshalls look like they hold up, but I'll go for quality over cool factors for sure.
