I've just built a 6G3 clone amp and i'm getting intermittent popping when switching off the tremolo via footswitch. The pop only happens when switching the tremolo OFF, and it doesnt happen every time. I've tried three different switches, of different manufacturer, and it doesnt change anything. I've also tried a large resistor (10M ohm) across the switch terminals and it didnt solve the issue. Searched the internet high and low and cant find anything that works. Anyone have ideas?
The switch is implemented by grounding the oscillator circuit as shown in the Fender schematic: http://ampwares.com/schematics/deluxe_6g3.pdf
On my specific build this is done with a 1/4" jack on the back of the amp chassis with Tip connected to the junction of .01uF, .01uF, and 1M resistor. The sleeve is connected to ground. I have built a pedal with a jack and a switch that that connects the tip and sleeve of the jack. I'm connecting the amp to the pedal with an instrument cable (shielded). I've tried the same connection with a non-shielded speaker cable and it produced the same results.
Any ideas for tremolo switch pop?
