Amp reworked

Post by TUBEDUDE »

On my personal amp I changed the piping, handle and straps to black, changed the grillcloth, changed to a Voight tonestack, added a twin T mid control, centered the P.I. bias, rewired the fx loop, changed the 6V6's to 6L6GC's, upped the B+ etc.
Played it for 4 days, sound great! Played this afternoon, no hot channel, lost the relay.
Tired of pulling chassis, I'll live with it for now. Seldom use that channel anyway.

Hmm...where's the "like, don't like" button? Like the look! Don't like the dead relay!

Thanx.
I used the image from King Crimson's "Court of the Crimson King" album cover art.
Slight dimension changes and dark/contrast adjustments so the edges fade to black. A favorite early seventies album.

phone clips.
The first one is muted as I had the phone facing backward. '57 Strat, clean channel cranked, no effects.

Sounds great! This amp really cooks! I am also a fan of 6L6 vs 6V6 and higher voltages. I love the added sustain that you can get from higher voltages.
I will be testing out the new Hammond 290D2X transformer shortly that lets you switch from 305 to 355 volt primary.

Cheers

Odd, works fine on desktop with windows on chrome... sorry possibly a safari issue with html5 stuff I've done to make that work?

They show up as 'mp4' put I used them as audio mp3's and it plays fine?

I hate apple :D

Yeah, could just be a browser issue. I will download the files when I get back to home base. Sorry for the thread derail, Tubedude.

Thanx Phil, I appreciate your file management skills! I've got to setup my recording gear to get better tracks. Phone is just too easy and not too bad, considering.
