I want to try a single ended headphone amp.
So... it means 2 se amps (stereo) on a shared power supply, driving a 32ohm load.
I have deluxe sized PT, looks like it will be enough for a pair of 6v6,.. or 6f6, even 6k6 ,...
and I have a tub of 6v6 and even a pair or two of the later.
The OPT I'm eyeing are Hammond 125se, which with a 32 ohm load gives a 10k plate load.
It looks like it should go, basically two champs on the same deluxe PS. The preamp on each channel should be fun.
An opportunity to noodle with various circuits, srpp, mu follower, boot strap,.. plenty to try, fun.
The question is of course the loading Vrs the tube type, looks like I should lean toward 6k6..
And are there other OPT for the application other than just the Hammond product?

Re: Headphone Amp
A deluxe PT might supply too much voltage for 6_6 in single ended mode.
Tube junkie that aspires to become a tri-state bidirectional buss driver.

Re: Headphone Amp
Thank you...
You are correct, double checked PT and the design max for the tube type. Most common guitar PT do indeed land around 400v to 450v ish.
And to make it go for the suggested tube type, looks to be 300v to 350v ish. I do have a PT in an old Mil. R-361/gr receiver that should give around 330v.
I'll dig around the bone pile too.
I always look to use whats under bench,... The loading and opt is the real requirement, the PS and valve must follow.
I'm still looking for alternatives to the Hammond product
Cheers.
