I recently bought a Fender Blues Deluxe re issue for a really reasonable price. I want to upgrade it and have read of a few mods that are available. Does anyone have an opinion about best mods or beat things to do to improve tone......Thanks
.

Re: Fender Blues Deluxe re issue
I've got the first generation of the BD, I dig it, one mod I've heard good things about is reusing an unused triode to make the drive not suck so much.

It sounds like adding another gain stage lets that amp sound a ton better.
I also highly recommend recapping it as the fender default illinois caps are garbage. Also buy some replacement resistors for the reverb circuit and raise them up off hte board, they get way too hot and burn traces etc. Also it may even be wise to bump them from say 5W to 10W just to allow less heat to dissipate.
