How many of these tubes do you have ,if only 3 or 4 I don't know that I would do a build based on them unless I included the flexibility to change over to something else without major work, but hey it's your time input!

DaGeezer (on the Hoffman forum) and I experimented with them yrs ago & I think it was on a dual pentode idea for a HoSo56 but it's been so many yrs that I don't remember which amp for sure? We each tried them out on the individual amps that we had and had similar results that we reported.
What we did is wire up a V1 socket with 5879 and then paralleled another socket (in the preamp V1 position) to use either 6AU6 pentode or 5654 pentode (which I think have the same pinout?)
It was a fun project. You could use the 5879 alone, 5879 with 6AU6 or 5654, or the 6Au6 alone or the 5654 alone. This allowed me to try all three of those tubes in a V1 position. IIRC, I liked the 5879 best, then the 5654 next and then the 6AU6. I remember it being a nice sounding tube in a V1 position for whatever amp that was that we tried it out in?
Some yrs later, I tried the 5654 in place of the 6AU6 for a vibrato similar to the Silvertone 1482 or Dan Electro Centurian 275. It worked well as a vibrato tube in that design also.
You can look up the data, but IIRC ............ I think the 5654 needs somewhat lower voltage?
I know Da Geezer works (and your's), they are very fine

This was new to me, thanks

I was looking if some other people experimented with those tubes (I think I've a pair of schematics where the 6ak5 were used in audio)
