Yeah, illustrator with a lower case i. [1] It was a job. Back in the day you went to some kind of technical arts school to learn how.
[1] Some trivia about the phrases "lower case" and upper case." Back in the day when newspapers were the domain of actual people who had jobs as typesetters, the small letters were kept in the bottom case and the capital letters were kept in the top case. Hence, the nomenclature, "upper" and "lower" case is a relatively modern thing tied to the invention of hot type.

It never occurred to me those were hand drawn. Duh, of course, but I never gave it any thought, never focused on it. Thanks for pointing it out. The one you posted is actually worthy of framing and hanging in a repair shop as art.

Somehow, to me, it looks like Angela hired R. Crumb to do that. How he kept the guy on task remains a mystery. I keep looking for Mr. Natural hiding in a corner. It just has that feel to it.
