With those on a heavy Fender chassis like a silver face pro of twin you still need to run in the 3 rear upper screws that pass thru the lip and into the wood.

Thanks for the link :D

That said, I wonder why do they call them "extruded" , they are anything but.

What I see is a punched and stamped part, made out of spring steel, which later gets heat treated to become a spring proper (very hard and elastic).

Extruded implies pushing a soft metal (think aluminum) through a shaped die, under such temperature and pressure that it behaves like a paste, absolutely different.
And extruded metals are not springy, quite the opposite .

@JM, I know, weird name.

Anyway, I just added these to another chassis that had failing #8 threaded holes. I had to cut off the "lip" of the fasteners so I could slide them very close to the edge where the holes needed to be. Just used a Dremel with cut-off disc, and it went like butter.

I prefer Trheaded Rivets

Despite what can be say they are simple to install also without special tools

for some reason the last bit won't hyperlink. Copy and paste the whole thing. Anyway, he's got both clip nuts and rivet nuts.

Doing that the link is OK

p.s.: Those treaded rivets you see on EL34World are there because I showed them to Doug

they would have been perfect if I'd seen them earlier. How do you install though without special tools?

I use something like that that I build with a mod to a riveter

[img:1000:1000]http://seashoretradingqatar.com/Images/ ... 39_HIG.jpg[/img]

but is not really indispensable

You can simply use a bolt, a pair of washers and a long nut (like tis)

On this video you can see an easy way to mount it without special tools

(this is the way I use)

here other similar ways

Oh man thanks for that video! I have had nothing but bad luck trying to install the rivnuts I ordered from Doug a while back so I gave up on them. That video makes it look so easy now! I saw the other two you linked but never that one. I still have a bunch in my fastener box so I will give them another try.

I know that once I figure these out I will never go back to any other mounting method.

I use a smaller long threaded nut, so I drilled it inside as to eliminate the thread

this way the bolt can turn free (but you can use a larger nut respect to the bolt and the effect is the same)

---

When you use this trick only pay attention when you turn the bolt, don't give it too much turns

Ciao
