Schematic drawing programs - suggestions?
I'm looking for easy to use, free download schematic/layout drawing software. Any suggestions?
Re: Schematic drawing programs - suggestions?
I recommend ExpressSCH.
https://www.expresspcb.com/expresssch/
It's very very easy to use and there is a library on the Hoffman forum with 100's of schematic and layouts that you can use for editing.
http://el34world.com/Forum/index.php?board=12.0
And there are quite a few editable files also on TAG that use ExpressSCH.
with respect, 10thtx

I use DIYLC for layouts. It's not perfect, but it's free. It makes reasonably good looking layouts.

I use ExpressPCB for schematics as well. Pretty basic in appearances, one font, black & white only. But all the pluses already mentioned and free.
If i do want a better looking presentation i print the schematic to PDF then open the pdf in Inkscape (freeware) and replace all the lettering with nicer fonts, add some color where it makes things easier to read/find, such as voltages and current readings, just dress it up.
For layout i started with a free CAD program. Do the layout in real size and then print it out to create the drilling template for your eyelet/turret board.
I've also always used the ExpressPCB layout software for diy PCB builds.

I use FidocadJ (not the old Fidocad), that is free, multi platform, has tubes on library and permit you to easily build your own shapes for the library
