I should have done this a while ago...

The other night I decided to plug my 100 watt metro into a hot plate and run it into the computer through a cab sim just to see what it would be like. Its actually not half bad. Obviously not as good as a real cab but it gives me a usable enough sound that I can play it late at night which always seems to be the time I most crave to play guitar. I made a clip real quick along with a backing track. Playing is kinda off as its hard to get levels just right so I can hear myself and the backing track well enough to play right and keep in time. Gonna have to do some fine tuning. Anyway should give you an idea.

I've always been pretty resistant to the digital modeling stuff but I'm starting to open up to it more as my desire to be able to play along with tracks while other people in the house are sleeping is slowly overwhelming my stubbornness.

I used this free plugin:

Gonna do some searching around the net to see what else I can find, especially for free. There's also a company that sells a model of a 1960 marshall cab w/ G12M's for like $9 that I might check out.
