Mesa Mark IIA Reverb Issue

Post by peckjed »

Good evening everyone! This may not be the proper area, and excuse my description of my current issue. On my newly acquired Mesa/Boogie Mark IIA, when the Master 1 is pulled the reverb works fine... But when pushed in it hums. Also, when there is a patch cable plugged into the reverb foots witch underneath the chassis (and held on one end in my hand) it works when Master 1 is pushed in. So I assume it has something to do with the jack and possibly the grounding, but everything LOOKS okay. Any suggestions? Also, why would holding the patch cable end cure the problem, but when letting go it starts again?

It sounds like a lost ground issue !

If holding the cable fixes it, think about what you're doing here. Chances are it's something about the cable or something about the jack. Since we think it's a ground issue, that's typically carried on the sleeve connection. So, you are having a loss of continuity somewhere between one and the other. I'd suspect the connectors rather than the wire, but there's no saying that's right.
