jack wiring

Post by Xander8280 »

Are marshall plastic jacks different unplugged than plugged in?
Is it as simple as two lugs are for the tip and two for the sleeve? or is there more to it like an old school fender jack with a the shorting mechanism?

I have played around with a 5E3 style combo to the moon and back.

Cannot seem to get my head around the shorting that's found on wiring diagrams.

Thank you!

Fender Hi-Lo inputs using Cliff jacks should look like this. The terminals opposite the tip and sleeve terminals are both switching terminals. They are connected to the tip and sleeve when nothing is plugged in, and disconnected when a plug is inserted.
