Re: snap in caps
Looks good for a big filter in a little space. I like the 10000 hour rating.
down technical blind alleys . . .
Re: snap in caps
I found some 30mm clamps was gonna run them in series for my main filter
They have another one with a 20,000hr life

Re: snap in caps
The 20k are out of stock
Just seems like the size, ratings, cost are to good to be true

Re: snap in caps
Anyone tried Miec axials? Very compact, high quality and inexpensive. I've used them in several builds, and they are every bit as good, if not better than Sprague Atoms or F&T. I got mine from www.justradios.com/axialelectrolytics.html
Re: snap in caps
I hate hand soldering to the snap in 'lugs' so I stay away. I do use the Nichicon radials though. Waaaaaaay too many series' to choose from however. They are all pretty much the same specs, and anything is better than the snake oil geetar caps.
Re: snap in caps
Are the snap in lugs real flimsy? Anything wrong with wrapping a wire around them and soldering?
Re: snap in caps
No, it's fine and then are pretty rigid in my experience They are just kinda small for a lot of leads and bleeder resistors.

Re: snap in caps
What gaz says ^^^. Have a tie strip or some turret posts nearby your filter caps, and put your multiple connections on them. The lugs on the cap aren't flimsy, just inconveniently small for more than one connectioncbass wrote:Are the snap in lugs real flimsy? Anything wrong with wrapping a wire around them and soldering?

Ain't that the truth, same w/ Panasonic. And when you hear something is hot sh!t usually from the hifi peeps, it's long discontinued.Gaz wrote:Waaaaaaay too many series' to choose from however.
Miecs are on my list, they make 20mf which if you are anally cloning
I posted this before, looks really useful if building from scratch:

Re: snap in caps
I've used CDE 380 LX (maybe the 381LX - I'll have to double check) snap in caps to rebuild a few Ampeg V-Series with. The spacing on them will pop right into the bottom holes of a terminal strip which makes for easy soldering. The body will hang a bit lower than the bottom of the strip so I needed to add an extra nut to raise it off the chassis. But they're really convenient due to the size and they saved me a pile of $$$ instead of using the giant multi-caps. I got mine from Mouser - also where I got the terminal strips (Keystone?)

I like the 330 doubled up in a hundred watt amp. You get some serious bass out of those babies. They had some at all ellectronic that i pickup a couple of to try. Wish I would have got more before they were all gone.

Re: snap in caps
I've used the 600v axials in a couple amps, small sampling but they're still going strong. Didn't use em everywhere but I used one to replace the dynamite stick in a flip top ampeg and I used one for screen duties in a traynor yba1a that's seeing around 530v and both are just fine. The yba1a gets whipped on all kinds of stupid ways regularly and always takes it in stride.stuben wrote:Anyone tried Miec axials? Very compact, high quality and inexpensive.
