Post by roadkingbluzs »

Hello guys, the heading of subject matter say's it all. I need a source for this cap. I thought I had a source the other day and now can not locate it. BTW recapping an HD130R. Any ideas appreciated thanks.

You don't have to match it exactly. I just recapped and RD50 and used 100u/100v caps.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

ANtique electronics supply stocks a 220 uf @50 volt for all of 50 cents!
Since those filters do the bias and solid state 16 volt section the up rated uf values will work great and not effect the amps tone!

+1 from me on commonly available 220 uF caps. You might even find caps like these at a Radio Shack, cost a little more but way cheaper than paying shipping.

This amp has 700 volts in there so be sure to turn the main power off and to turn the standby switch on to drain the power supply out for 30 seconds before you dive in!

Thanks for cap source, worked out great. Add. parts from Tube Depot. JCM 800 and HD 130R recapped and sounding killer. JCM 800 has since been put back in service. Music Man was to be sold but having way to much fun. BTW a bad guitar cable gave me head aches for a while. I assumed it could not be a bad cable since it was a brand name (Monster) heavy duty. Well, you know the old saying................ Thanks again

Yeah, Monster stuff is mostly over hyped crap.
Only good thing is they guarantee their stuff.

You don't have to break the bank to get a good low cap cable.

For one Lava Cables.

You can also save money if you build your own.
