Understanding Ampeg VT40 schematic

Post by beasleybodyshop »

schematic is attached. This thing is probably the most confusing one ive seen in a while...

My question is about the dotted circle in the upper left hand corner near the first gain stage. it has a resistor and a diode inside it - what does this mean?

There is also a wierd symbol next to the standby switch and bridge rectifier - looks almost like an LDR bug symbol from a fender schematic. Huh?

P101 and P102 are optoisolators or LDR's (it says as much in the notes), and the oval near the standby is a neon pilot bulb with an integral resistor (P.L. is for Pilot Light).
