Would this cause any problems?

I have a chance to buy a AC30 chassis from someone and was wondering if I could just use it like it is and sit it atop my cabs and play it without anything weird going on (squealing, interference, etc) until I get or make a head shell for it?

I don't see why not.

Doing repairs, I commonly test amps "out of the box" before final reassembly.

Your only cautions are - if you have kids, and/or pets - cats or ferrets mostly.
