Cheaper Output Selection Rotary Switch?

Post by The New Steve H »

I decided to quit putting separate output jacks on my amps, so I will need a good rotary switch with three settings. The one Marshall uses is expensive. Can anyone recommend a cheaper switch? It doesn't have to be cork-sniffer-endorsed. It just has to work.
Relax. It's SUPPOSED to smoke a little.

That's a very good switch and up to the task.

Alpha makes a 3 position switch p/n SR2617F-0103-18F59-D1-N Mouser stock # 105-SR2617F-13-18NS $3.68 for one. You can probably buy one on evilbay including delivery direct from China for around $4. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-New-4-Pole ... 2a1ecdc31a

What a nightmare it is, sourcing parts. I have put the better part of two days' hobby time into parts for a new EL84 amp, and I already had a BOM. Mouser had the switch I chose. Thank God.

If you buy from Mouser like I do try using their project manager software. It lets you put parts you want to buy on a list so it keeps track of all your stuff. Then when you need more parts just check off the ones you want and they go into your cart. Nice easy way to go back and find parts you used before too.
In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.

It's too bad they don't sell tube stuff. I also find that I always have to go somewhere else to get good prices on electrolytic caps.
