Need bit of guidance on a Beltone AP12 Amplifier

Post by devilsindetails »

Got this little Beltone AP12 Amplifier single-ended

6X4 Rectifier
6AQ5 output
3X 6AV6 pre-amp/tremolo

Just started to nose around around the chassis and noticed (see orange circled area in pic) that a wire on V3 (6AV6) Pin 1 is just hanging loose there...where's it supposed to go?

Not much info on these Beltone/Teisco amps, but I did find this schematic on the web....

Thanks...Leo

I will post some other pics here of the cahssis etc as I realize there is not a lot of info etc on the web and every little bit potentially helps someone else down the road :)

I just sold one of these about two months ago! Otherwise I could get a quick answer. AP14 w/10" speaker.

Can't you tell where the other end of the hanging wire is? That would help. Can't tell which is V3 from the schem. Does the amp work?

It is the input to the grid on that tube. I'd look at the previous 6AV6 to see if there is a cap coming off the the plate that needs a place to go to.

No that's the problem...there's no other looose hanging wire to trace it back to...the schematic is equally confusing to me....

The pinout of 6AV6 says that pin 1 should be Triode Grid.

I am not getting any sound out of the amp and suspect it has to do with the missing connection off of Pin 1 of the first 6AV6...

Still feeling my way around in the dark reading schematics and applying what I see visually to schematics....must be a left-brain right-brain thing...

It's a white wire going up to the tone stack, I can look at mine tomorrow.
Photo is from my files but I can remove the back cover tomorrow and look.

The wire goes from pin 1 to wiper of tone control.
