Tone stack stripper glitter
I knew that'd make you look.
Please get out the Duncan's TSC and turn to page Marshall for a second. Ok, see the approx octave that the bass response happens over? How can I shorten that hump width to anything less, but hopefully around 1/2 octave? Shifting the value of the mid cap is not positive enough. Is there a filter I can create around that part of the circuit to get me close?
I almost got what I wanted with a 10k mid pot and swapping caps, but it moved the top of the mids too far down where I am trying to make it voxy around that range with a big pointy 1k dump. (because that rocks)
I stayed up all night building two amps into an already finished amp. I'll go get coffee and meet you back here for a good answer! hahaha.. EeEeeEEEeeee

To add, 68k slope with 8.8n bass and mid caps is also rock approved. 500p treb. Unga bunga.. has 4700p res. bass less, res more. Yum.
Re: Tone stack stripper glitter
reel can you help me understand what you're asking - do you want to shorten the amount of dB change or shorten the frequency change? are you saying that the peak of the low-end hump moves an octave over a sweep? i see it going from ~110Hz @ -11dB to 50Hz @ -3dB with a bass sweep and the other pots at 5/10.
also, i love some late night amp building, but even more frustrating than wiring the heaters is finishing an amp in the middle of the night and having to wait a couple hours to play through it! i guess the trick is to work through the night like you so that you finish in the morning.

1.5 pots of coffee between 12 and 6.
I want to shorten the width of the hump in the half octave around 120-125Hz centered instead of the extension above and below. I sort of found another way to get similar results. I guess I should outline that here..
Raised the slope range to 47-72k. 340p treble cap. 10k mid pot from 25k. I think a 12n mid cap although I sort of forgot where I stopped. I used 50k on the cathode follower stage and bypassed it with a 1000p. I may change the driving stage from the 2.7k it is now to 820r. (Bypassed .68u)
I have arrived in the ball park or what I was trying to get. The bass pot controls a shorter bandwidth with a slightly tighter hump in usage because I carved out around it and built up the other ranges. omg so much to know and so many ways to get something done. There must be a best way. This is only one way.
Coffee!!
I think best when I am not growling at the phone ringing. On the other hand I won't be answering the phone today. hahkwijabo wrote:reel can you help me understand what you're asking - do you want to shorten the amount of dB change or shorten the frequency change? are you saying that the peak of the low-end hump moves an octave over a sweep? i see it going from ~110Hz @ -11dB to 50Hz @ -3dB with a bass sweep and the other pots at 5/10.

I think what he's asking for is narrower Q.

nice. glad you got it where you want it. i messed around with it for a little bit and plugged in your new values. then tried some other ways to come close but didn't find anything. so i think you found a good solution.

Yes, it worked out better than I imagined!
Blacking out with Enola Gay

At volume this thing is disturbing. I can't wait to make a 100 watter!

Hey Reel, you've got a pretty good ear - look what you came eerily close to...

Here it is. Closer than it even looks on paper. Reels is in red, Engl in green.
