correct eyelet size for 1/16" thick board ?

Post by pula58 »

Mouser sells eyelets.

For 1/8" drill bit size, 1/16" thick board material, what do you suppose would be the correct shaft length (see link to product spec):

I am thinking part # 534-43 since the un-squashed shaft-length, 0.093", is just slighly longer than 1/16 (0.0625").

Do you think this is correct?
I know I can get eyelets from Watts, but, I'd like to try to get most of my stuff from 1-2 vendors, and since I used mouser alot...)

Thanks

P.

I think you'd be better with the. 125 length. More metal to grab the bottom of the board. I find shorter ones don't "roll up" so well.

I use the 534-43, 1/8 x 0.093 length. You only need enough length to "flare" the end on the underside of the board.

Probably a matter of skill (yours, being greater than mine). I could never get the short ones to grab.

Might come down to just making sure that the eyelet is fully inserted by pressing down on the board adjacent to the eyelet. I've been swaging mine in place using a drill press and a conical point.

Me to. But with the 1/16 grey "fish paper" boards (and the old Fender black ones) I always liked the longer ones. Nowadays I use a combination of turrets AND eyelets (there are advantages), but being a bit lame in stocking them, I need different size holes for turrets and eyelets, so drilling those boards can be a career.
