where to go to to have faceplates made?
Print shops can print on plastic, but, can't punch the holes.
I have a drawing package, and can make nice faceplate design, but I am having trouble finding anyone who can make em (which would include lettering, and grpahics, and punching the shaft openings.
Print shop
metal shop?
Any thoughts on this?
Amplates.com does nice work nice, but (IMO) too expensive ( ~ $80-$90).

Re: where to go to to have faceplates made?
I was using a local sign shop, but they have become increasingly difficult to track down. As a result, they are losing my business.
I found a place online that can engrave Gravoply very inexpensively. They can cut the holes, do the engrave, and provide adhesive backing.
www.labelengraving.com
they sent me out a sample of one of my panels for free - it arrives tuesday. I can report back on the quality, but they sent pictures too and they looked great. These guys are on point!
Also, I will be paying about 1/4 what the local sign shop charged me - and they can answer a freakin email. I am happy

Jeanne is a pleasure to do business with too,

bnplasers will be hard to beat unless you have someone local that can do it..Their machines are set up to work with Corel Draw.
Re: where to go to to have faceplates made?
The two go-to's in the amp world have been the aforementioned bnplasers and amplates. I think both companies have been doing it for a decade or more. I haven't heard a bad word against either of them.

I use BNP Laser great service and Jeanne/husband own land just down the road from me in Minnesota, small world.
I also use Front Panel Express for thick aluminum engraved panels when my friend colossal is too busy I feel to bug for drawings from him.

Afaik, the only drawback to BNP is that the gold plexi panels are on the orange side and somewhere, somebody does the right Marshall gold. It would be nice to know who that is.

I've dealt with Sandy at Precision Design, as she's relatively local (very quick turnaround time for me).

I've been getting Marshall plates from Michael at http://modulusamplification.com/
The price with shipping adds up about the same without hassle of finding a U.S. ready made plate. He is stocking reversed plates for me as well JCM800 to use as combo amp plates, great service.
You can ask for material sample to check the color.

+1 for this, expecially for metal panels, otherwise search "synoptic panels".rock_mumbles wrote:or maybe a local trophy shop

Jeanne at BNP and Sandy at Precision Design are both top drawer. Highly recommended.

Re: where to go to to have faceplates made?
Hi Guys, Mike from Modulus here, I have a laser engraving machine and have just got a rotary machine specifically for making faceplates, logo's and hoping to start custom guitar parts.
Laser machines are great for engraving and cutting holes easily but they are limited in what materials you can use, which is why I just got the rotary machine.
If you supply me with a good drawing of what you are after I can turn it around quite quickly now, not doing metal panels yet though.
I can ship to the USA cheaper without tracking, but my shop is set up to only ship with tracking as USA customs can be very very very slow.
If you want to know more or want some samples drop me an e-mail, check out my website or my facebook site.
thanks
