Mesa DC3 + Tube screamer TS808 how to connect

Post by na3d »

Hi, is it better to connect the TS 808 direct to the input of the amp, or is better to go through the send return of the amp?

Drive things ALWAYS on input, tonal things loop first (*eq) time based things last.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Thx, the other question is: I have a bcb60 pedalboard, so I connect the guitar direct to the TS808 then to the DS2 and then direct in the amp right?

And then from the amp's send to the pedalboard input, then from the pedalboard send to the delay, then from the delay to the pedalboard return and finnally from the pedalboard output to the amp's return.

DS2 is another distortion unit, I presume..

Yes, your path sounds like it works in a typical and classical way.

Usually people put all distortion devices into the front of the amp (input).
Compressors, Wah Wah can also go into the front end.
If you have a fuzz, it usually comes first in the chain.

Modulation, reverb, delay can go into the loop if you have one.

But, there are no absolutes.
Sometimes you just need to experiment with the chain order.
You never know you might find a great sounding combination that works well with your rig.
