5e3 chassis faceplate and mounting holes dimensions

Post by wsaraceni »

does anyone have a good chassis layout for the 5e3? im thinking of building one out of a fender blues jr combo i have, but would prefer to use a new chassis and wondering how i'd get it to fit in the blues jr.

thanks

The 5E3 is not a particularly complicated amp and will fit in a relatively small chassis. If you don't want to use the BJ chassis, then get another made that is the same size as the BJ and build your 5E3 into that. If you don't mind drilling your own, you can get an inexpensive and very high quality blank from http://ddawgamps.com/Amp_Chassis.php and he will cut and bend to the dimensions you provide. He doesn't drill them, but I think he will cut a hole for an IEC inlet if you tell him where you want it.

There is a good source for custom face plates but I don't remember it. Someone else is likely to chime in.

If you want one cut, bent, and drilled to your spec, there are places that will do it, but it is likely to run 4-5x the cost of a blank from Dirty Dawg.

thanks guys. for some reason, i hate chassis drilling. and always end up with too many holes. (the reason i want to dump the blues jr chassis)

so i figure a full chassis might be the way to go

I've never seen it done, but for pre-drilling, I imagine they do that before they bend it. Good luck.
