Check out TRM guitar cabs on eBay

Post by Super_Reverb »

Just received and finished a TRM 2 x 12 guitar cab. The construction was near perfect and the prices are quite good. Example listing below:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRM-Guitarcabs- ... 27c5ec04a5

I have no interest in this enterprise, just a satisfied buyer.

cheers,

Pine is warmer sounding. Maple is bright, and heavy hardwoods are dark sounding.

Just a generalization, but if you think about how different strat necks sound, you'll be close.

I think in low powered applications like a Fender Deluxe, etc. the pine is warmer and works very well but when getting to the power handling of a EVM 12L in Thiele I'm having my doubts that pine is a good choice?

That's what I was thinking, you don't really want any coloration with a 806.

But, on the other hand, it could possibly sound like heaven.

I don't have the 806 style, but I have an oversized 1x12 from TRM, and it sounds really great. It has a three piece back that allows closed-back or a couple of open-back configurations. I originally had an EVM12-L in it, and in that configuration I liked it better closed-back.

I'm getting ready to try a Red Coat Tonkerlite in it.

They do sound warm and "lively", and the other advantage is really light weight compared to ply.

The downside is you can put a dent in the cab just by looking at it. I put a couple of coats of epoxy on and plan on getting some of that carbon fiber vinyl to cover it.

His build quality is outstanding, and the prices are good. Here's his web site:

Tim does great work at a great price, very fast and very accommodating to goofy requests like mine.
I asked him for a custom head cab with inside dimensions of 10"W x 6"H x 8"D using 1/2" instead of 3/4",
and in no time he sent me this...

The 2x12 cab that I bought for my son is finished with 8 coats of Danish oil with chromed corners, tweedish grill cloth, brown leather handle and is loaded with two Emminence Texas Heat 16 Ohm speakers. He's driving it with an Egnator Rebel 20 and it sounds great in sealed back mode and with middle section removed (fuller more room filling).

cheers,

rob

That's a shame. After I ordered one, he contacted me with a ship date and them followed up at shipping. Maybe he has too much business :)

He's always responded quickly to my emails. I would try sending him another email, maybe it was rejected by a overly zealous spam filter.

He doesn't seem to check on weekends. But usually responds to weekend emails Monday morning.
