Single Ended Fixed Bias?

Post by leadfootdriver »

Yup, that's what it is. I went back to a cathode follower from a plate driven tone stack today. The amp was a little harsh, and the CF was just what the doctor ordered. I lifted the bias supply on recommendation from a JCM 900 since my tranny didn't have a bias supply tap. You can pick it out on the right. I got that little turret board from Radio Shack, and it barely fit. I used an old guitar pot for the trim.

Nothing new in this build really, but a few different values here and there like 47k plate and cathode resistors on V2. But it was a good platform to test and hear different triode wirings and components since it was my first ground up build. It looked real nice when I first finised it, but now it's all burned up with globby solder everywhere. :D

The amp pretty much sounds like a hot rodded JCM 800 now. It is what it is. This is what it looks like today.
