Here's an old project O mine, I had loaned to an old friend.
solid oak and oak speaker baffle
Cant wait to revise the G2 dress, may be mod a little, I think I remember it

Re: Old Friend
That looks super sweet! I like my builds to look home made (different than being ghetto rigged!) and this definitely fits that look. Is that one of those sewing clamps holding the cloth on the speaker grille?

Re: Old Friend
ya embroidery hoop, and burlap, the burlap is stretched slightly and is
acoustically transparent enough to be usable, it fixed in the hoop with
cyano acrylic and the whole thing can be mounted with pins, screws or those little magnets.
hadn't thought of braille either, I was being cheap with a nail set in aluminum.
Braille is a great Idea.

Re: Old Friend
Thank you I appreciate the positivity.
I've been at it since the late 80's.
I can wait to go through the thing, I did a repair on one of mine that was
over ten years old a few weeks back, my own vintage gear, rather strange really
It really is addicting, The internet is a huge resource, when I started there was
nothing, you'd be lucky to find anything at the library, maybe in the
dumpster out back when they thin'd out the stacks,
had to scour flea markets and yard sales and pawn shops for old books and
old gear to scrounge the parts, remember when mouser was a cm thick.

Re: Old Friend
Yeah I hear you, my resource was the engineering library at NDSU and the tech lab at a VA Hospital where they had a whole wall of tubes, but not these days.

Re: Old Friend
yup... the G2 were running around .2 v + relative to the plate.
I tried the simplest solution as I suggest to GAZ...
https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=14454
with an additional 470r and then a 220k bleeder before the screen grid resistors.
The G2 are now about 5v - relative to plate
B+ is 436 and the tubes are biased to .035 A each on a PT rated to .120 A
for 6v6 thats a toasty 15.3 w
the g2 reading was not a stable as with an additional filter cap
but theres not the space.
the RCA design center max for plate and grid are 350 and 315.
the peak pulse for 6v6 plate is 1200, any one have the absolute max?
the tube data sheet locator isn't up today
